Description
The BA (Hons) Business is a three-year undergraduate degree programme, which provides the necessary up-to-date knowledge and skills in all the key areas of Business Management.
The courses and individual modules of this programme are designed with an emphasis on international, contemporary, and practical business issues to ensure that as a graduate you are ready to seek employment both in the Greek labour market as well as the international market. The programme provides the opportunity for you to benefit from and develop all the skills and knowledge required to be competitive in today’s business environment through a learning strategy that empowers students not only with academic knowledge but also with personal development. During your study period on the programme you will gain a broad insight into the world of business from both distinguished academics and experienced professionals. During the first year of study you will take a range of introductory courses such as marketing, finance and the business environment, while in the second and third years you will develop a bigger insight of business administration, strategic management, law and human resource management.

Course Description
To understand the nature and range of business models and functions which contribute to a continuous changing environment. To learn the complexities and categories which surround the contemporary business environment and the variety of ways in which they may be used and applied so as to create a competitive advantage and better business performance.

Managing Corporate Risk & Crime (Semester 1)
Course Description
This module aims to develop a critical understanding of the concepts and principles of the management of corporate risk and crime and the ability to apply these concepts to the business world.
Educational Objectives
After completing the Managing Corporate Risk & Crime you will be able to:
- Explain and interpret the main concepts and principles in corporate risk management
- Assess and apply the principles of the management of corporate risk to realistic commercial situations
- Critically evaluate the management of corporate risk in terms of its commercial consequences
- Demonstrate a practical understanding of the main types and causes of corporate crime
Digital Business Strategy (Semester 1)

Οι αναδυόμενες τεχνολογίες έχουν βαθύ αντίκτυπο στις επιχειρήσεις, καθώς άτομα και οργανισμοί έρχονται αντιμέτωποι με την αλλαγή και την καινοτομία. Ωστόσο, το πώς μια επιχείρηση μπορεί να επωφεληθεί πλήρως από αυτές τις αλλαγές δεν είναι πάντα σαφές. Η χρήση του διαδικτύου, των εφαρμογών, του χώρου αποθήκευσης cloud, του GPS και των συσκευών που είναι συνδεδεμένες στο Διαδίκτυο έχει αλλάξει τον τρόπο που ζούμε, μαθαίνουμε, παίζουμε και αλληλοεπιδρούμε. Αυτό το μάθημα στοχεύει να αναπτύξει την κριτική και πρακτική κατανόηση των εννοιών και των αρχών της ηγεσίας και της ικανότητας εφαρμογής αυτών των εννοιών στον σύγχρονο επιχειρηματικό κόσμο, για να δημιουργήσει το κατάλληλο περιβάλλον για τη δημιουργία επιτυχημένων ομάδων μέσα στον οργανισμό.

Entrepreneurship & Innovation (Semester 2)

International Business and Trade (Semester 2)

Strategic Thinking (Semester 1)
Course Description
The module examines and analyzes the evolution of strategy, as a cornerstone of business thinking and of senior executives’ behavior. The topics analysed in this course will offer you the knowledge that is directly related to your personal and professional development. The sections are intended to help you familiarize yourself with the processes by which companies define and achieve their goals and analyze the socio-economic consequences of implementing their strategy, to achieve competitive advantage and superior business performance

After completing the Strategic thinking you will be able to:
- Analyse the micro and macro environment of an organization from the perspective of markets, customers and competitors
- Understand the impact of strategy on implementing the business vision
- Understand the concept of competitive advantage both in the Greek as well as the international market
- Understand the broader strategy framework in relation to socio-economic and environmental change
- Critically evaluate the importance of strategy in the modern business environment and how companies manage to implement a strategic change
- Understand the strategic analysis of the internal and external business environment
Employment Law (Semester 1)
Course Description
To develop a critical understanding of the concepts and principles of employment law and the ability to apply these concepts to the business world.
Educational Objectives
After completing the Employment Law you will be able to:
- Explain the main concepts and principles in the development of labour law
- Critically evaluate the contractual relationship between employer and employee
- Discuss legislation-related issues such as equality and family rights.
- Explain and evaluate the legal principles related to legislation for the health and safety of employees.
Dissertation (Semester 1)
Course Description
The aim of the dissertation module is for students to demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills gained during the undergraduate programme of study in an independent, self-motivated, enquiring and problem-solving manner. This serves to extend, underpin and enhance learning through the identification of a business/management problem which requires theoretical research, structured data collection, subsequent analysis leading to conclusions and recommendations.
Educational Objectives

- Examine the principles, theories and research which underpin business practice
- Evaluate arguments in business using ideas and research at the forefront of business practice.
- Demonstrate an appreciation of the applications for their accrued knowledge in the modern business environment
- To demonstrate support and rationale for the purpose, research methods and subsequent outcomes of the project.
- Complete a work-based project
- Select and design the appropriate Research Methodology (Primary Research, Secondary Research)
International Human Resource Management (Semester 2)
Course Description
The module aims to provide the students with a knowledge and critical understanding of international trends and developments affecting HRM. Students will engage with current thinking and research into International dimensions of IHRM, including the Internationalisation of business, intercultural management, and comparative approaches in selected countries.

Strategic Marketing (Semester 2)
Course Description
The course focuses on analyzing the role of Marketing in the modern business environment. The aim of this module is to build on marketing foundations studied previously and provide a staged approach to the nature of strategic marketing which contributes to the achievement of a competitive advantage. To introduce the broader aspects of strategic marketing that reflect contemporary developments in advocacy and ethics.
Educational Objectives
After completing the Business Communication Skills you will be able to:
- Understand the concept of Marketing and Public Relations
- Analyse the micro and macro environment from the market perspective, the customers, as well as the competitors.
- Synthesise the new marketing mix and associated innovative practices related to customer management
- Combine the new marketing mix and innovative practices related to customer management and buying behavior
- Recognize the challenges of implementing marketing strategies and the need for effective resource management through continuous improvement
- Understand the concept of Digital Marketing
Dissertation (Semester 2)
Dissertation
After completing the programme modules, you are to conduct your Dissertation on a programme-related subject of your interest assisted by a supervising professor. The dissertation module aims to demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills gained during your studies in an independent, self-motivated, enquiring, and problem-solving manner. Writing your Dissertation enhances learning through the identification of a business/management problem that requires theoretical research, structured data collection, and subsequent analysis leading to conclusions and recommendations. your study period.
Educational Objectives
After completing your Dissertation you will be able to :
- Accurately identify and specify the nature, characteristics, and variables related to a management or business problem or investigative topic.
- Design and write a logical and methodologically sound research proposal
- Select and apply the key, critical components of academic research methods to the topic or problem you are investigating.

As a graduate of the BA program (Hons) in Business you will be able to seek employment as a business consultant, as administrative personnel in financial institutions as well as an executive in small and large companies within all sectors of the economy, such as:

The program BA (Hons) Business is aimed at high school graduates wishing to pursue a career in the business world but also to employees or students of other disciplines. For students living within and outside the Athens district, students who wish to study while they work or wish to study without having to move away from their homes.
The programme is offered through a physical presence at IST but also provides the opportunity for a more flexible model of attendance through a blended learning model of studies for those students who do not wish to seek residence in Athens.
The BA (Hons) Business degree provides the opportunity to continue your studies for a master’s degree.
The program is offered through physical presence in our facilities – 68 Syggrou Avenue (Next to the Metro station “Syggrou – Fix”). However, it is possible, through our modern educational platform, to attend classes on demand, at your own time and place.
High School Diploma or Equivalent Title
The first three semesters are taught in Greek while the last three semesters are taught in English.
It is important to note that during your three years of study at IST you will have the opportunity to attend English language classes at no cost, depending on your level, so that by the end of your academic studies you will have improved your knowledge of the language.

Funding & Scholarship Programme
The method of payment of the already affordable IST tuition fees is very flexible. In consultation with the financial services of IST, it is possible for installment payments of partial or one full payment where a corresponding discount is given.
Also, the Education Counselor will inform you about the economic and social criteria that will ensure you a tuition subsidy of up to 30%, supported by the Student Welfare Fund of IST.
You can also apply for one of the Scholarships provided by IST on a regular basis, in collaboration with well-known companies and organizations here.
It is important to note that by paying your tuition fees, you will enjoy a range of extra benefits and services at no extra cost such as:
