The supply chain consists of all those businesses and organizations that are necessary for a product to reach the final customer. The effective organization, coordination and management of the flow of products and information in this chain is the subject of Logistics.

Objectives of the programme

The aim of the Executive Diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain Management is to offer practical and specialized knowledge which follows the needs of the modern labor market. The program will help you upgrade your knowledge, strengthen your position in the company where you work so that you can develop hierarchically and also develop your skills for all those who want to start working in the supply chain field.

The programme, in addition to the theoretical knowledge it provides, includes at all stages of the supply chain analysis of modern case studies, practical applications and exercises which are constantly renewed.

In addition to the basic principles, Logistics uses dynamic algorithms and operational research models for the greatest possible accuracy and efficiency of decisions. Extensive use of Excel is made, and basic principles of Project Management focused on the correct and immediate movement of stocks to the final destination are also taught.

  • Basic costing principles and inventory valuation methods, directly and practically applied to each company.
  • The concept of warehouse, cargo, container.
  • Route costing, cost of fuel, driver, cost of various modes of transport.
  • Basic principles from Transport Economics.
  • In addition, the seminar “borrows” elements from business research and statistics, for forecasting demand, seasonality, emergency orders, correlation of factors, with immediate practical application.
  • Issues of choosing appropriate distribution channels are also analyzed depending on the type, type and purpose of the business. In addition, Incoterms are explained.

The Executive Diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain Management is addressed to warehouse managers, purchase decision departments, procurement departments, departments and supply centers in public organizations, to entrepreneurs who wish to significantly improve the efficiency of distribution, maintenance and inventory retention (of products, materials , goods, raw materials, consumables, building and construction items, etc.).

It also gives a significant comparative advantage to food and catering businesses, hotel units, shipping companies, courier companies, shipping companies. It is also aimed at supermarkets and large supply organizations.

A large part of Logistics also concerns service companies, both for the supply of the materials and equipment that support the service, but also for the human resources that are the main productive factor of service provision.

Lecturers

Savvas Aslanidis is a senior executive in the field of Air Cargo and Supply Chain Management, with 36 years of experience in business administration, sales, and the management of complex operations in Greece and abroad. He has held leadership roles overseeing large teams and managing complex cargo networks across up to 37 airports nationwide, with responsibility for strategic planning, development, and profitability.

He has served as Cargo Director at Goldair Handling, responsible for the development and operation of cargo activities across multiple Greek airports, as well as Cargo Operations & Sales Director at Olympic Air, where he played a decisive role in the development of the company’s air cargo sector in Greece and Europe. He also served as Cargo Manager at Sky Express, overseeing the organization, development, and commercial strengthening of the company’s cargo division. Additionally, he was Country Manager of ARAMEX Greece, where he led the establishment and development of the Greek branch and implemented the company’s commercial and operational strategy.

Among his key achievements are the design and implementation of an Air Cargo Road Feeder Service connecting Athens Airport with the airports of Bucharest and Sofia, the development of Aerospace Logistics and Express Courier services, the negotiation of strategic agreements with international airlines, and the undertaking of Cargo City Project Management for an international airport in Kuwait. He has also successfully implemented restructuring and Lean Management programs during periods of economic crisis, achieving substantial cost reductions and improved profitability.

He currently serves as Ground Operations Manager at the cargo airline Swiftair, overseeing Ground and Cargo Operations at Athens International Airport. He is an active member of NATO’s Civil Emergency Planning unit as a Cargo Civil Expert, contributes articles to industry publications, and participates as a speaker at private educational institutions and conferences, sharing strategic and operational expertise in the fields of Logistics and Air Transport.

Dionysis Grigoropoulos was born in Athens in 1971 with a degree in Programmer Analyst from TEI Piraeus, as well as a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Bath. He has 20 years of experience in Supply Chain Organization and Management, IT, Sales and Management. He was the 2004 Project Manager for the installation of telematics equipment and the management of 5,000 vehicles for the 2004 Olympiad. He is a founding member of ITS HELLAS and was a member of the Board of Directors. of the Hellenic Logistics Company (EEL) from 2006 to 2012. In 2013 he was certified as a qualified partner in the European Union in Transport & Logistics matters. Since 2009, he has created the company  Logistics  Way  , which operates in the field of Supply Chain, offering transformation services, strategic implementation of processes – information systems. Since 2016, it has been a preferred partner of AMAZON.

In January 2012 he was appointed Chairman of the Board at the Refrigeration & Logistics Industry Association.

Giorgos Karaganis holds a PhD from the University of Piraeus in the field of Supply Chain Management and Logistics. He did his Master’s Studies at the National Technical University of Athens in the Department of Chemical Engineering in the Organization and Management of Industrial Systems and his undergraduate studies at the University of Piraeus in Informatics in Communication and Network Systems. He has been teaching at the University of Piraeus since 2013 in the areas of Warehouse Management Systems and Information Systems, he has worked and continues to work in companies in the field of IT and Logistics and at the same time he is involved in the field of secondary education. He has a rich written work in his scientific field and has edited publications in scientific journals.

Manos-Nikolaos Papadakis has been working for the last 11 years at the Greek office of the International Supply Chain Standards Organization GS1 (GS1 Greece), contributing practically to the optimization of the operations of the Greek GS1 member companies in Greece through the implementation of the GS1 International Standards and innovative solutions, supporting them in their journey to achieve strategic and operational goals in innovation and digital transformation. As Senior Executive of the GS1 Organization, his main tasks include, among others, consulting and training GS1 member companies in Greece on various topics (digital platforms, exports, traceability, supply chain management, etc.), Project Management (international/national), development and expansion of GS1 standards, products and services in the Greek market and management of GS1 Greece services. Working with companies (export and non-export), industries and organizations from all sectors (e.g. agri-food, transport and logistics, pharmaceutical and medical devices, retail, consumer FMCGs & FMCHs products, heavy industry and energy products, public sector, etc.).

He holds a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management and Logistics (NTUA and the School of Shipping and Industry of the University of Piraeus), a Master of Science in Executive MBA (University of Piraeus) and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (University of West Attica).
At the same time, he is an academic researcher at the University of Piraeus in research areas such as innovation in shipping, transport and logistics and sustainability with relevant publications in scientific journals and international conferences.

He is a member of various Standard Development Groups of the International GS1 Organization as well as of Institutes and Organizations (e.g. Technical Chamber of Greece, Project Management Institute, Hellenic Logistics Society, Logistics Management Institute of Greece, Hellenic Academy of Marketing etc.).

Dimitris Papasotiriou (BA, MSc, MA, ELA/ESLog, Business strategy & Supply chain consultant), graduate of Business Administration Univ. Piraeus, holder of Master’s degrees in Logistics NTUA-Pan. Piraeus, on the Right of Crisis Un. Aberdeen UK, in Strategic & Diplomatic studies (CEDS FR), has trained more than 8,500 business executives inside and outside Greece through business organization seminars in Business Strategy and Supply Chain. He has been the scientific supervisor of the Diploma in Logistics Management of EEDE and has collaborated with the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK), the University of Piraeus (PA.PEI.) and the Athens University of Economics and Business (OPA).

He is a certified Logistician Senior level by the European Logistics Association and also by ACTA as a logistics manager.

He has worked in a number of jobs related to his subjects of study,  participating in more than 300  Business Logistics, Systems Logistics, 3rd Party Logistics – as well as business strategy projects in 7 countries.

He has been:

  • General Manager of a group of companies providing Supply Chain & Logistics services (230+ employees, nationwide presence, 100+ vehicles).
  • Deputy President of EKAV managing 3500 employees and a fleet of 800+ vehicles operating 24X7X365,
  • President of the Cyprus Logistics Company,
  • Vice President of the Logistics Company of Crete,
  • Member of the Board at the Logistics Management Institute of Greece,
  • Member of the Board of Hellenic-African Chamber

He is a patent holder and creator of the LAW (Logistics Audit Wheel) and RE.LO.CA.Mm (Reverse Logistics Capability Maturity model) methodologies. He has published dozens of professional articles as well as peer-reviewed scientific publications, organized research series and participated as a speaker or panel moderator at dozens of conferences.

Apostolos Pappas is a Mechanical Engineer with Postgraduate studies at Cranfield Institute of Technology (UK).
Academic Professor of Operations Research and Logistics (Derby University Accredited Lecturer, IAE Sorbonne Business School, ECEMA Lyon Business School Associate Lecturer/Student Exchange Programme) Registered as a Chartered Engineer with the British Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
With more than 3 years of professional experience in leading multinational and Greek groups (AKTOR/Director of Mechanical Engineering/Director of Equipment in Romania, OLYMPIC AIR SERVICES/Chief Technical Director, THYSSENKRUPP MARINE SYSTEMS/Director of Infrastructure Projects, HOCHTIEF-ATHENS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT/ Airport Transportation Projects Manager).

Apostolos Tzimourtas holds a Master’s degree from Mercer University.

He began his career at Nestlé, at a time when the supply chain function was still being shaped, working both in Greece and at the company’s headquarters in Switzerland. He later returned to Greece to take on responsibility for the logistics operations of Athens 2004 Organising Committee for the Olympic Games during the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics.

Following the Games, he served as Supply Chain Director at Sara Lee before moving into the logistics sector, holding strategic, operational, and commercial roles in companies such as DB Schenker, Hellenic Railways Organization, O. Beinoglou, and DHL Global Forwarding Hellas.

Today, Apostolos Tzimourtas serves as General Manager at Kanga Services SA.

Structure
