Privacy Statement
IST is a versatile and multi-level educational institution licensed by the Ministry of Education that, in collaboration with recognized Universities abroad, offers undergraduate and postgraduate study programs, flexible Supported Distance Learning programs, two-year Vocational Training & Specialization programs, as well as Seminars and Training Programs Lifelong learning. In the context of its above operation and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the current regulatory framework, IST collects and processes, as a Data Processor, personal data disclosed by you as active students, potential students, its interested parties, trainees, students, graduates as well as its partners and suppliers. IST attaches due importance to the protection of your personal data and wants to inform you with this Privacy Statement about how it manages your personal data in accordance with applicable law.
What personal data may be processed by IST:
Personal data includes any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (“Data Subject”), whose identity can be ascertained, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier.
IST collects personal data that you (Data Subjects) disclose to it whenever you express interest in or register for a program or seminar, workshop or other activity offered by IST. The relevant personal data include, but are not limited to, the following:
- identification data (surname, patronymic, date and place of birth, identity card or passport data, AMKA),
- demographic data (gender, nationality, marital status),
- contact details (postal address, landline or mobile phone number, email address),
- financial information (such as a tax return),
- information about special educational needs or data about health information
- data you declare in the context of your participation in exhibitions, other actions, competitions
• There are cases where IST may collect your personal data from other sources, such as:
- information communicated to him by the Ministry of Education
- data disclosed by collaborating Universities,
- data from Professional bodies or Associations.
Finally, IST uses “cookies” which are small text files that are stored on your computer while you browse the internet and collect standard online log information as well as information about the visitor’s behavior. Through the use of “cookies”, IST can see your previous activity and if you have visited its website another time.
There is no obligation to disclose your personal data to us, but in the event that you decide not to provide your data, IST will not be able to offer its programs and services to you.
For what purposes IST may process your personal data.
IST only processes your personal data that is necessary for the purpose(s) it collects and uses it exclusively and only for these purpose(s).
IST processes your personal data for:
- the completion of the application / expression of interest regarding the programs / services of IST
- the registration in the programs / services / actions of the IST
- where required by the applicable regulatory and legislative framework, e.g. when provided for by the instructions of the Ministry of Education
- to promote informational material about new IST programs / services, provided you have given your express consent. It is noted that you can withdraw your consent at any time, which will be valid for the future. In particular, after we receive the notification that you have withdrawn your consent, we will stop processing your data, as long as there is no other legal basis that justifies the processing.

- for participation in exams, certifications, competitions.
To which recipients IST may transmit your personal data:
IST does not share or transmit your personal data to third parties, unless this is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it collects it and/or if it is required or permitted by law. In any case, access to your personal data is allowed only to authorized persons who are required to have access, in order to be able to complete the purposes of their collection, use and processing, as disclosed in this Statement.
Potential recipients to whom IST may transfer your personal data include:
- the Universities partnering with IST, in which you are enrolled as a student
- the Ministry of Education
- certification bodies
- In some cases, IST may share some of your personal data with specific companies or service providers that cooperate with it, in order to respond to your requests or with natural or legal persons entrusted with the execution of the processing, which are contractually bound to protect your personal data in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework.
Period of keeping your personal data
IST only keeps your personal data for as long as is absolutely necessary. In the context of providing its services or programs, IST keeps your personal data for at least five (5) years from your graduation and/or the completion of the study / program / seminar you have attended. There is a case for us to keep your data for a longer period if it is necessary either by the applicable regulatory framework or for our legitimate purposes.
After the above retention period has expired, IST may destroy, delete, encode or otherwise anonymize your personal data.
Your rights regarding the processing of your data
In accordance with the applicable regulatory and legislative framework, you have the following rights:
- Find out if we keep your personal data and, if so, what this data is and why we keep/use it.
- Request access to your personal data and receive a copy of your personal data that we hold.
- Request the correction of your personal data if it is incomplete or inaccurate.
- Request the deletion of your personal data, when there is no reason to justify the retention of these data.
- To withdraw your consent at any time when we process your personal data for the purposes of promoting new programs / services.
- Object to automated decision-making without human intervention, such as in some cases of profiling
- Request the restriction of the further processing of your personal data.
- Request the transmission of your personal data to you or another party in electronic and structured form.
If you wish, you can also appeal to the Personal Data Protection Authority.
Amendments to this Statement
IST may from time to time make changes to the Statement, either in whole or in part, at its sole discretion. Any modification herein will be effective as soon as the modified Statement is posted on our site.
