It was with great enthusiasm that on Thursday 21 November 2024, we welcomed Sir Tim Wilson to IST College, where we held an open discussion with our students on the role of universities in economic and social development.
A few words about Sir Tim Wilson: Sir Tim Wilson, PhD, Honorary Professor.
Professor Sir Tim Wilson has had a distinguished career in academia and business. He has served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire, a member of the UK Government’s Higher Education Select Committee, a member of the leadership team of several companies and a member of the boards of national business organisations in the UK.
He is recognised as one of the leading thinkers in the field of university-business collaboration, with a global outlook on innovation and high-level skills development. In 2011 the UK government commissioned him to undertake a comprehensive review of business-university collaboration with the aim of establishing the UK university sector as a global leader in business collaboration. Her Majesty the Queen of England awarded him a knighthood as part of the New Year Honours List 2011, for his pioneering work and services to Higher Education and Business.
He is a frequent speaker at International Conferences on university-business relations, as well as innovation and skills development. He has maintained friendly ties with IST College Athens for more than 30 years.
