MSc Computing enables you to develop your skills and gain computer science expertise at postgraduate level. This specific program gives graduates of all faculties, as well as IT graduates who obtained their degree several years ago, the opportunity to become top professionals in the field of IT, trained on the basis of modern, international educational standards.

Through practical laboratory training in real case studies and the application of international educational practices, emphasis is placed on modern IT subjects such as: the development of online software, mobile device software, databases, networks and system security . The preparation of individual and group assignments will help you consolidate the new knowledge and use your new skills in the solution of real problems.

The courses of the particular IT master’s degree have been designed with the aim of immediate employability. The Master’s Program in Informatics is a real challenge since it equips you with the right mix of the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge that the IT profession needs today.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This particular course aims to cultivate the essential skills necessary to ensure that appropriate work and standards are achieved and maintained throughout the chosen course of study. This will include developing professional information handling and analysis skills, as well as ensuring that you are competent in identifying and managing your own research skills as well as being able to self-assess your work.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is an introduction to essential networking terminology, standards and protocols, local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) as well as the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and TCP/IP models.

You will develop a working knowledge of the operation of networking tools and networking hardware and software, including hubs, switches and routers – and their configuration as well as layer 2 and 3 topologies and troubleshooting. You will also consider the benefits of a technical introduction to the subject of networks and the effort required to smoothly transition networking tools into the workplace.

  • Compare and contrast available network hardware and software products for different applications
  • Develop strategies for designing and implementing networking solutions or troubleshooting networking problems in real time

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course will provide you with a thorough knowledge of the theories and application of basic computer programming concepts such as algorithms, abstract data types, underlying data structures and their integration to produce efficient code. You will develop the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to analyze problems and then design, implement and analyze efficient algorithmic solutions using the appropriate programming language.

By the end of the course, you will be familiar with the implications of algorithmic solutions in terms of their computational complexity (space, time, and logic) and develop a working knowledge of optimal solutions to problems. These will be developed using object-oriented methodologies with modern programming techniques.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course examines the role of database systems in information management as well as theoretical and practical issues affecting the design and implementation of database management systems. The course aims to provide the knowledge and skills required to create, maintain and operate a relational database management system using commercially available database software. The course aims to expand your knowledge of database system and data analysis by introducing you to a range of advanced topics and techniques, including data science and data analysis, personalized data and other advanced database topics.

  • Understand the principles of the relational database model, data integrity, and functional dependency from logical data design problems
  • Perform data manipulation and information retrieval functions using SQL language and commercial database software (ORACLE SQL, PL/SQL)
  • Assess advanced aspects of data science and data analytics including principles, research results and their commercial application

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course focuses on understanding the security risks associated with information assets and the security programs designed to protect them from threats. Primary emphasis is on identifying information security risks, implementing risk mitigation and management measures, assessing best-in-class security technology, and critically understanding security policies, standards, and practices. Legal, ethical and professional issues surrounding information security management are also covered.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course will provide you with the knowledge required to identify, critically examine and be able to discuss a range of current and future technical and social issues in IT, engineering and technology. In this way you will be able to develop your critical thinking about the implications of current and emerging IT research and development.

Through this course you will gain a broad knowledge of the research areas of computer science, engineering and their application in industry, commerce and other fields. In general, the course will introduce you to the field of forecasting future technologies and trends. Technological progress and its social implications are key features of the course, where as postgraduates you will be able to make predictions based on often conflicting information.

  • Evaluate a variety of emerging IT and engineering technologies at various stages of research and development
  • Identify and analyze current and future IT and engineering (IoT, AI) issues
  • Synthesize conflicting views and make decisions about new and future technologies while also considering broader social, ethical, legal, political, economic, environmental and demographic trends and their implications

COURSE DESCRIPTION

After completing the courses of the Program, you are invited to prepare your Dissertation with the guidance of your supervising professor. The aim is to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the MSc in Computing postgraduate study programme. This will help you to extend, support and enhance your learning through identifying a problem that requires theoretical research, data collection and analysis and subsequent analysis leading to conclusions and recommendations.

The MSc in Computing study program   of  Wrexham University is offered in Greece by IST College after approval from the Ministry of Education.

The degree awarded upon completion of the study program can be recognized as professionally equivalent to the degrees awarded within the Greek higher education system. The recognition is done by the Independent Department for the Implementation of European Legislation (ATEEN) of the Ministry of Education. (https://www.minedu.gov.gr/ateen-anagnorisi-epaggelmatikis-isodynamias) As long as it is recognized as professionally equivalent, this title is used professionally like the titles awarded by the Greek Universities. The recognition of ATEEN is not academic and does not allow the continuation of studies in a Greek HEI. However, our graduates continue for postgraduate and doctoral studies in universities abroad, of their choice.

A large number of graduates of IST College who have followed the procedures prescribed by law, have received recognition of the professional equivalence of their degree by ATEEN.
