Description
Tourism is an activity with significant implications for the economy, society, culture and the environment. This seminar analyzes the effects of tourism and the social and economic factors. More specifically, the basic concepts of tourism, the evolution and development of tourism in Greece and internationally, the tourist demand and supply as well as the effects of tourism on the environment are analyzed in detail. Additionally, the Geography of Tourism, Tourism Economics, Tourism Marketing and Management are studied.
Objectives
Upon completion of the program, will be able to recognize the basic concepts that connect tourism with the economy, society and the environment and you will gain a practical understanding of the modern conditions of tourism.

Lecturers
Konstantinos Theodorakis is an Economist with postgraduate studies in Management of Tourism. He has many years of experience in adult education, as well as in-company training, in thematic areas such as: Tourism Management and Organization, Catering & Leisure Unit Customer Service, Design & Promotion of Tourist Packages and the Use of New Tech Human Resources of the Tourism sector.

1st SECTION
Introduction of Tourism
Introduction – Basic Concepts – Definitions: Introduction to the concept and content of tourism. Basic tourism concepts, evolution, and development of tourism in Greece and internationally.
Η Τουριστική ζήτηση και τα χαρακτηριστικά της: Παράγοντες που επηρεάζουν την τουριστική ζήτηση, η ποικιλία της τουριστικής ζήτησης, χαρακτηριστικά των τουριστών, τουριστικές μορφές, διαμεσολαβητές τουριστικών υπηρεσιών, εποχικότητα , ρόλος των τιμών συναλλάγματος στην τουριστική ζήτηση.
The Demand of Tourism and it features: Components of Demand of Tourism – Competition .
Tourism & Environment: The Impact of tourism on the environment, environmental tourism, more lenient forms of tourism, policies for the protection of natural and man-made resources.
Geography of Tourism
Touristic Areas: classification of tourist areas and regions, the geographical demarcation of the tourism business, as well as their functions according to the tourist destination, the problems of the host areas, geographical distribution of tourist destinations, local factors and problem-solving policies, distinctions between traditional and new tourist destinations international tourist destinations.
Regional models of tourism development: Regional tourist areas and the forms of organization of tourist businesses, coastal, urban, agritourism, spa, etc., forms of development of the tourist area, distinction of tourist areas.

Economics of Tourism
- Tourism statistics
- Prediction techniques and analysis of tourism trends
- Economic organization of tourism companies and intermediaries of the tourism circuit.
- Analysis of tourist foreign exchange receipts and expenditures.
- Financial Tourism Accounts, External Relations Account, Input - Output Tables, Econometric Models, Tourist Multipliers
3rd SECTION
Marketing of Tourism
Introduction – Basic Concepts: Detailed presentation of the concepts, terminology and all functions and activities of Tourism Marketing. Satisfaction of needs and desires, tourist behavior models, tourism marketing planning and strategy, tourism product development and planning, tour operators, Tourism market research, Marketing mix, case studies.
